About Thermal Dynamics

Thermal Dynamics has been making plasma cutting equipment since 1957 and joined ESAB in 2012. The Cutmaster handheld plasma line — Cutmaster 40, 60i, 102, and 152 — is well-regarded for automatic gas regulation, generous duty cycles, and the long-lived SL torch family.

The Cutmaster 60i is the model we sell most: 60 amps of output, recommended cut to 1 inch, severance to 1.5 inches, and the proven SL60QD torch. It's the natural competitor to the Hypertherm Powermax65 SYNC at a lower price point, and most shops won't notice the cut-quality difference in normal handheld use.

We stock common Cutmaster consumables (electrodes, nozzles, shields, swirl rings, retaining caps) for SL60 and SL100 torches, and can quote mechanized configurations and larger industrial units. Authorized dealer means the warranty is real and the parts pipeline is reliable.

Thermal Dynamics — Common Questions

Both are 60-amp-class handheld plasma systems. The Hypertherm 65 SYNC has the single-piece cartridge consumables (faster changes, RFID tracking) and slightly cleaner cut quality on stainless. The Cutmaster 60i is several hundred dollars cheaper and uses the well-regarded SL60QD torch. For most shops the choice comes down to consumable preference and budget.
